The VS1000 RT is a high-efficiency heat recovery ventilator (HRV) and dedicated outdoor air system (DOAS) that optimizes healthy indoor air quality while minimizing building energy usage.
It is the only UL, CSA and Passive House certified counterflow HRV available in North America suitable for various commercial applications, including retail spaces, offices, restaurants, schools, public spaces and even multifamily residential buildings.

Separation of Ventilation from Heating & Cooling

Traditional commercial HVAC RTUs combine heating, ventilation and air conditioning. Unfortunately, this causes indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency to suffer. This separation from heating and cooling allows the unit to effectively ventilate for optimal comfort and IAQ without sacrificing energy efficiency. Exceptional Heat Recovery Efficiency

With its aluminum counter flow heat exchanger core, the VS1000 RT transfers up to 93% of  sensible heat between intake and exhaust air streams, which is 43% more than the typical efficiency of heat exchangers using cross flow cores or enthalpy wheels.

Lowering Operating Costs & Increasing Energy Savings

Ventilation fans can be major energy consumers, but Ventacity fans incorporate electronically commutated motors (ECMs) and backward curving fan blades, (they’re aerodynamically shaped like an airplane wing to reduce air turbulence) reducing the power required for air movement while also reducing noise.

The VS1000 comes equipped with a continuously variable economizer which, unlike  typical economizers, is intelligently set to the exact mix of outside and recirculated air that optimizes both indoor air quality and efficiency.
The superior efficiency of the VS1000 RT is further proven by engineering details, such as positive sealing doors, heavy insulation and the elimination of thermal bridges to the exterior of the units (i.e. would-be pathways for energy to escape and be wasted). It also features a built-in economizer that eliminates the added expense and effort of installing an add-on.

Durable, Built to Last Commercial HRV

From the outset, we designed the VS1000 RT to stand up to harsh environments. The unit can easily be installed on a rooftop, outdoor pad or in a mechanical room. Precision construction and airtight door seals exclude dust and moisture. The system’s galvanized, powder coated steel case will stand up to years of weather exposure.

Easy Installation & Maintenance

Our engineers have spent countless hours on rooftops understanding the installation process, so the VS1000 RT has been designed to be easy for crane operators, HVAC installers and electricians to install and maintain. It fits directly over the roof curb of most 5 ton RTUs. Ducting can be routed to ports on either the ends or the bottom of the unit, minimizing the need to modify ductwork.

Intelligent Machine Control

The VS1000 RT includes:

  • Eight internal air pressure sensors
  • Five temperature sensors
  • A sophisticated controller that can be set to maintain positive, neutral or negative pressure within a building, helping to control the flow of air between the inside and outside and within the structure

The VS1000 RT’s intelligent controls can be connected to sensors throughout the building and outside to detect levels of CO2, VOCs, relative humidity and occupancy. The system then optimizes ventilation, providing just the right amount of fresh air when and where needed for maximum health and comfort.

Optimizing Health & Energy Efficiency

The controller can be programmed with sophisticated rules that can be scheduled by times of day and days of the week. Ventilation can, for example, be shut off completely after office hours or boosted when CO2 levels are high.

 

 

Smart Building Gateway Integration for Smart Ventilation Management

With the optional Smart Building Gateway, the VS1000 RT is capable of detecting current and future conditions to provide just the right amount of fresh air when and where it is needed for maximum health, comfort and energy efficiency. With Smart Ventilation Management, facility managers, building owners and service technicians can have full visibility and control over a building’s energy usage and indoor air quality through a remote dashboard, e-mail reports and maintenance alerts.
